If We Were Planning a Scuba Diving Vacation in Barbados, This Is What It Would Look Like

Five days of incredible diving, island adventures, beach days and a little local lime. If we were planning the perfect scuba diving holiday in Barbados, this is exactly how we would do it.
At Green Divers Barbados, we think the best dive holidays are about more than just the time you spend underwater. They are about discovering new dive sites, meeting local people, enjoying incredible food, exploring the island and having enough time to relax between adventures.
So, if we were planning a Scuba Diving vacation in Barbados, here is how we would spend it!
Where We Would Stay
First things first, we would book our accommodation at Eden on the Sea. Why? Because location makes all the difference when you are planning a dive holiday.
With Green Divers located at Savvy on the Bay, staying at Eden on the Sea puts you just steps away from your morning dives, post-dive lunch and plenty of options for a relaxed afternoon. No long transfers, no complicated logistics, just an easy walk from your accommodation to the diving, dining and beach.
We would want somewhere comfortable to return to after a full morning underwater, with the freedom to spend the rest of the day exploring Barbados or simply enjoying the sunshine.
Monday to Friday: Two-Tank Morning Dives with Green Divers
We would kick off the week by booking a 10-tank dive package with Green Divers, giving us five mornings of two-tank diving.
This is our favourite way to experience the variety of diving Barbados has to offer. Each morning brings the chance to discover different wrecks, explore vibrant reefs and encounter some of the marine life that makes diving here so special.
Rather than squeezing all your diving into one or two days, spreading it across the week gives you time to enjoy each dive and still have your afternoons free to explore the island.
Which Dive Sites Would We Choose?

That depends on your certification, experience and what you enjoy most about diving.
If we had our Advanced Open Water certification, or planned to complete it during our stay, we would make sure to include some of Barbados' deeper shipwrecks and outer reef sites.
A few of our picks would be:
The Stavronikita: A famous wreck that offers an impressive underwater experience for appropriately qualified divers.
Neptune Goddess: One for the wreck enthusiasts looking to explore more of Barbados' deeper diving.
Brianna H: Another exciting wreck to add to the itinerary, depending on conditions and your experience level.
Of course, not every dive needs to be deep to be memorable. We would also make time for some of the shallower sites, including:
Carlisle Bay Shipwreck Park: Perfect for colourful marine life, historic wrecks and a relaxed dive in generally calm conditions.
The Boot: A great addition to a varied dive itinerary.
Asta: Another site to explore when planning your dives around the day's conditions.
Pieces of 8: Two more names to add to the mix when discussing your dive plan with our team.
One of the best things about diving in Barbados is the variety. You can spend one dive exploring a wreck surrounded by schools of fish and the next enjoying the colour and life of a reef. Our team can help plan your dives around your certification, experience and interests.
If you are not yet Advanced certified, your holiday could also be the perfect opportunity to take the next step in your diving journey. Ask us about completing your Advanced Open Water course with Green Divers and building some fantastic dives into your training.
Our tip: Let us know what you want to see when you book. We can help you plan a dive itinerary that makes the most of your time in Barbados.
The Post-Dive Tradition: Lunch at Savvy on the Bay
After a morning of diving, we would head straight to Savvy on the Bay for lunch and a well-deserved drink.
This is where Green Divers is located, and it is one of our favourite things about our location. Once your morning dives are finished, you do not need to travel far to find somewhere to eat, cool down and swap stories about what you saw underwater.
With more than 10 dining options to choose from, there is something to suit just about every appetite. Whether you fancy a casual bite, a leisurely lunch or a refreshing drink overlooking the bay, you can make a whole afternoon of it.
We would take our time, enjoy the atmosphere and decide what adventure the rest of the day might bring.
After all, you are on holiday!
Monday to Friday Afternoons: Your Island Adventure
With the diving done by lunchtime, the afternoons are yours to explore. We would mix a few cultural experiences with outdoor adventures, good food and time by the sea.
Here are some of the activities we would put on our itinerary.
For Culture and History
Visit the Barbados Museum
A great way to learn more about the island's history, culture and heritage. It is worth making time to discover the stories behind the Barbados you see today.
Take a Mount Gay Rum Tour
Barbados has a long rum-making heritage, and a tour is a fun way to learn about one of the island's most famous exports. It is an excellent option for an afternoon when you fancy something a little different from the beach.
For Nature and Adventure
Explore the East Coast
The east coast has a completely different feel from the calmer waters on the south and west coasts. We would spend some time hiking, taking in the dramatic Atlantic views and discovering the island's wilder side.
Hike Cocohill Forest
If you enjoy getting outdoors, Cocohill is a lovely way to experience Barbados beyond the usual tourist spots. Bring comfortable shoes, water and your camera.
Visit a Tropical Garden
We would add a garden visit to the week, with places such as Huntes Gardens offering a beautiful change of pace. It is a chance to enjoy the island's lush vegetation and take a break from the salt and sun.
Go Horseback Riding with Ocean Echo Stables
For something a little different, we would book a horseback riding experience with Ocean Echo Stables. Exploring Barbados on horseback is a memorable way to enjoy its scenery and get a different perspective on the island.
Spend Time Beach combing on the East Coast
Some of our favourite holiday moments would be the simplest ones. We would take a walk along an east coast beach, enjoy the sea views, look for interesting shells and natural treasures, and take our time exploring.
For Getting Out on the Water
Book a Catamaran Cruise
Even as divers, we love seeing the ocean from a different perspective. A catamaran cruise is a great way to enjoy Barbados' coastline, spend time in the sunshine and experience the water without a tank on your back.
For Food and Local Flavour
Have Lunch at the Nothing Box in Martin's Bay
If you are heading out to explore the east coast, we would make time for lunch at the Nothing Box in Martin's Bay. It is a great way to pair a scenic drive with a local food stop.
Friday Night at Oistins Fish Fry
We would absolutely save Friday evening for Oistins. Expect freshly prepared fish, lively music, local food and a wonderful atmosphere. It is one of those experiences that helps you get a feel for the island beyond the resorts.
Our advice? Go hungry, take your time and enjoy the evening.
Saturday: Explore the Island
After five mornings of diving, Saturday would be our day to see more of Barbados.
We would book an island tour and spend the day discovering the places that make Barbados so special. From historic landmarks and picturesque villages to dramatic coastlines and beautiful viewpoints, there is plenty to see away from the dive sites.
The best part is that you can tailor the day to your interests. History lovers might want to explore the island's heritage, while nature lovers could head towards the east coast for scenic views and a few stops along the way.
We would leave room for spontaneous discoveries, too. Sometimes the best holiday memories come from the places you did not originally plan to visit.
Saturday Night: A Night in the Gap
After a full day exploring, we would head to St. Lawrence Gap for a night out.
Known for its restaurants, bars and nightlife, the Gap is a great place to enjoy dinner, listen to music and experience another side of Barbados. Whether you prefer a relaxed evening with cocktails or a livelier night out, it is worth adding to your itinerary.
Just remember that Sunday is still waiting!
Sunday: Beach Day, Local Style
Sunday would be our day to slow down and enjoy Barbados like the locals do.
We would head to Brown's Beach, settle in by the water and spend the day swimming, relaxing and soaking up the sunshine. No strict schedule, no rushing between attractions, just a proper beach day.
This is the perfect opportunity to recover from a busy week of diving and exploring. Bring your beach essentials, grab something to eat and enjoy the relaxed pace of island life.
After a week of early starts and underwater adventures, a little downtime is well deserved.
Sunday Evening at Surfers Bay
We would round off the weekend with a visit to Surfers Bay to enjoy the reggae band.
Good music, a relaxed atmosphere and the chance to enjoy another evening by the sea make this a lovely way to end the week. It is the kind of evening that reminds you why a holiday in Barbados is about so much more than ticking off attractions.
And if you have another morning of diving ahead, you can always call it an early night!
How We Would Make the Most of Our Dive Package
Booking a 10-tank package is a great way to structure a dive-focused holiday, especially if you want to explore several different sites without spending every day underwater.
Our ideal schedule would look something like this:
Monday: Two-tank morning dive, lunch at Savvy on the Bay and a relaxed afternoon.
Tuesday: Two-tank morning dive, followed by a garden visit or the Barbados Museum.
Wednesday: Two-tank morning dive, lunch and an afternoon adventure along the east coast.
Thursday: Two-tank morning dive, followed by horseback riding or a Mount Gay Rum Tour.
Friday: Two-tank morning dive, lunch at Savvy on the Bay and the Oistins Fish Fry in the evening.
Saturday: Full-day island tour followed by a night out in St. Lawrence Gap.
Sunday: Beach day at Brown's Beach, followed by live reggae at Surfers Bay.
You can swap activities around to suit your interests, the weather and any other plans you have during your stay.
The beauty of staying near Green Divers is that your morning diving, post-dive food and plenty of lunch options are all close together, leaving you free to enjoy the rest of your holiday.
